Some great ones here… :)
Jesus Camp was extreme.
Yes, I saw it at least two years ago and I still have scenes come into my thoughts on a regular basis. The cardboard cutout of G.H.W. Bush, the girls doing the army dance in camo gear, the little kids with tape on their mouths going pro-life protesting…and so many more.
Hot Fuzz
Food, Inc.
Waiting for Guffman
The Namesake
Rachel Getting Married
Chocolat
The Squid and the Whale
In America
What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (my hubby should write this one!)

No Country for Old Men
Rendition
Run Lola Run
Blue Velvet
Porco Rosso
Chinatown

So many amazing films Matt… 2011 is going to be a good year for Rogue Cinema!
‘Eraserhead’ is a puzzle… I adore Lynch.
Oooh, I want to watch Eraserhead and Blue Velvet, both of which I haven’t seen yet. I was entranced by Mulholland Drive, and after seeing it had to, of course, rent Twin Peaks.
I really enjoyed watching White, Blue and Red. Juliette Binoche is one of my favorite actors; she is serenely beautiful and so captivating on film.
I recently rewatched Serenity. So kickass!
Yes kmilliecam — you have to warch Blue Velvet and Eraserhead. I’ve just been rewatching Twin Peaks.
I really like The Three Colours Trilogy, but love Blue — it is by far my favorite and one of my favorite Binoche performances. I agree with you about her talent and beauty.
Count me as a “Red” fan, my favorite of the trilogy. I still own the laserdisc. (And my brother had oversized posters of each of the three colors movies (in french) framed on his study wall for years… I’m not sure how he could get anything done with Juliette Binoche, Julie Delpy, and Irene Jacob staring back at him.)
For those new (or old) to Krzysztof KieÅ›lowski, the Filmspotting guys will be doing a KieÅ›lowski “marathon” starting soon. See: http://www.filmspotting.net/marathons.html
Here is the lineup:
Camera Buff
A Short Film About Killing / Short Film About Love
The Double Life of Veronique
Blue
White
Red
You film buffs who don’t listen to Filmspotting, for shame…
Ah, laserdiscs, from the good ol’ days. That was how I watched Back to the Future, Blazing Saddles, The Addams Family, and so many other films in my childhood. I kinda wish I still had that player around…
I love the idea of a ‘marathon’… :) And with these kinds of films, it’s not just like watching all the ‘Star Wars’ films back-to-back.
I watched Fassbinder’s ‘Fear Eats the Soul’ followed immediately by Antonioni’s ‘L’Avventura’ (looooong) the other day… I was physically and mentally exhausted after that!
matt, we have those laserdiscs still as well!!!
Has anyone seen?
Depatures (not the Departed, look for Japanese)
Golden Door
I am beefing up my Netflix queue.
